Interestingly, there were some positive results for other subliminal message tests.  There was a test, for instance, in which people were asked to rate how much they liked or disliked Chinese symbols.  For a given symbol, they’d flash an image of either a happy face, a neutral object, or an angry face too quickly for the person to really notice it being there, just before the symbol was shown.  There was a notable correlation between liking or disliking the symbol and which image was shown.  The happy face being flashed first made people like the symbol more and the angry face made people like the symbol less.
